ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the results of the estimation of a series of logit models of the choice dimensions, designed to relax the restrictive assumptions regarding the nature and sequence of the household choice dimensions. It provides a detailed review of the model results and a brief summary of the interpretation of the model coefficients. The overall supply of housing at each location regulates the residential location potential at each location, and is therefore a dominant conditioning variable in the choice of residential location. Socioeconomic status is the most obvious influence on the choice of housing quality and quantity. Four variables are included in the model to analyze the housing tenure choice of workers. These are an ownership dummy, and interaction terms for income, age, and family status.
