ABSTRACT

This story is about grief. It is tempting to think, as some theories in psycho-therapy suggest, that grief is a process including stages, which lead to recovering and resuming one’s life. While this may be true to an extent, there is a more philosophical question about the unbearable nature of grief, when the person lost to us is inextricably woven into the fabric of our psyche. How can one ever recover from losing a life companion, a key figure from one’s childhood or a child? This story is about the strong urge to be attached and to hold on to our affectionate attachments, which most of us experience as intimate parts of ourselves.
