ABSTRACT
Poverty remains a massive problem, with over 700 million people still living in extreme poverty. There are a wide variety of causes for poverty, which differ by country, but overcoming poverty is vital if we want to create a world that is peaceful and fair for everyone. Blockchain can help by proof ownership of capital, which, combined with a self-sovereign identity, can be used to obtain a loan. Blockchain can truly be a paradigm shift for the poor because it offers them the opportunity to improve their lives, monetise their (digital) capital, and leave poverty behind.
