ABSTRACT

Crimes against humanity are inhumane acts–which would constitute crimes in most of the world's national criminal law systems–committed as part of a widespread or systematic attack against civilians. So far, 28 individuals have been convicted of Crimes against Humanity by the International Criminal Court. The United Nations Ocean Conference was held in New York City in June 2017. A subtle, but dangerous, phenomenon is that the oceans are absorbing less and less carbon dioxide as ocean waters warm. Climate change means that the earth is getting hotter. Climate change plays a major role in the formation and strength of hurricanes. Air pollution and climate change are closely related. Global warming impacts the migration of plants and animals: forced migration of plants and animals to higher altitudes, with the possibility of extinction; increase in agricultural pests drives migration; desynchronization of life-cycle events; changing woodlands; and increase in allergens and noxious plants.
