ABSTRACT

Oils are combined with very finely pulverized enamel or verifiable pigments for OVERGLAZE painting and certain types of Limoges Schoolwork. The oil disperses the fine powder and enables the material to be applied very thinly by brush or with a point. The oil should remain workable while the painting is laid in and must be able to be dried or smoked off prior to FIRING of the enamelwork without leaving any residues. Oils of different viscosity and speed of drying are required to suit particular techniques and the requirements of individual artists.
