ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the development of the Dynix product. Quality products don’t just happen, but require careful planning, analysis, development and testing. The strategy followed by Dynix will be outlined, with particular reference to the UK Development Office, and some of their current and future projects discussed. Some new modules are also waiting in the wings: namely. Serials, Community Information, Housebound and Journal Citations. Each of these is discussed briefly, as far as the information on them has been made available. There have been fundamental changes in how the Dynix product has been developed in the UK and the strategy and controls followed. Release 130 consists of approximately 112 new enhancements and dozens of bug fixes. According to Dynix Dataline it has been successful and popular with clients in the US. The chapter also talks about Release 135, Release 140, and some new modules.
