ABSTRACT

This chapter examines data obtained from the nurse teacher interviews and student nurse questionnaires. It focuses on statistical analysis of the Student-Centred Learning and Teaching Attitude Questionnaire (SAQ) survey data with regard to statistically significant responses to the SAQ statements. The chapter explores the responses of pre-registration student nurses to similar topic areas in both the SAQ survey and the nurse teacher interviews. Generally the initial stage of analysis of the SAQ survey data gives a picture of overall agreement with the attitude statements. Statistical methods used in the first part of analysis of the SAQ survey data fall within the general remit of descriptive statistics. Generally the initial stage of analysis of the SAQ survey data gives a picture of overall agreement with the attitude statements. The main purpose of factor analysis of the SAQ was, as described earlier, to identify whether a conceptual framework exists in ways respondents scored their responses to the SAQ.
