ABSTRACT

As a conclusion to this book, main points are summarized and integrated further, relating Jungian theory to the experience of working analytically with musical symbols. It is proposed that the intrapsychic and intersubjective dynamics of our human organism are fundamentally musical and that the realm of music is a potent mirror and metaphor for our own world of experience. Music is described as a location capable of containing and expressing the cycles and stages of our development and is experienced as an expression of nature itself. New concepts are further consolidated including the sound-time continuum, the musical field, an auditory digestive system, the musical reverie, auditory zones of activation, parenthetical psychic melodies, destructive un-creations, diatonic fantasies, musical personae, Chronos and Kairos music and harmonic/syntonic typological attunement.
