ABSTRACT
Research trends have connections with the contemporaneous social, economic and political climates, as the previous chapter attempts to illustrate. More recently, attention has turned to the impact of deinstitutionalisation on quality of life for service users (Parmenter 1992), and a growing body of research continues in the mission to increase our understanding of what constitutes a 'quality* lifestyle.
