ABSTRACT
The three key words in this chapter are urban networking, regionalization and transborder cooperation. Each of these concepts has been at the centre of recent discussions in urban and regional studies as well as spatial plan ning. As I will show later on, they are related concepts which reflect both the present transformation of the European space economy and geopolitics and the current change in spatial planning thinking.
