ABSTRACT
Will AI machines and humans become indistinguishable in a few centuries if not in a few decades? Or will AI machines take over the world and humans finally become subservient to AI machines? Or, will AI turn out to be a leap of unprecedented progress for humankind and far superior to any other technology we have developed so far? Will AI be the harbinger of a new and better era for humankind? Have we just overhyped the impact of AI? No matter how AI evolves from here, we need to have a comprehensive policy response to deal with changes that will soon be brought by AI. Whether the new developments in AI will create more inequalities between societies and countries, leading to more discord, or whether they will lead to more prosperity and peace, depends on what we do today.
