ABSTRACT

Addiction interventions can be messy. This chapter aims to prepare clinicians as they mitigate risks and plan for the unforeseen. The text covers all manner of events and situations that can (and may) go wrong, including the problems, possible solutions, and case studies. These include situations in which an intervention invitation was never given, or the identified loved one doesn’t show up, flees, or isolates. The authors also address logistical issues with a pet or when animals are in danger in a home.
