ABSTRACT
Treaty 11 and the Gwich’in Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement have been crafted with Gwich’in elders and remain living documents that provide Gwich’in with tools to work with the government for their “benefit” and as partners. The practice of writing, as illustrated through the Takudh Bible, dictionaries, cultural texts, and Treaty 11, becomes like a trail or even is a trail. More importantly, the texts tell an unfolding story which needs to be read, told, and imagined, very much like marks on the land. The story that the author have told textually has often turned towards the land and the notion of gwinzii kwundei. It lies in the land that heals, through the medication of teasing or telling humorous stories. It lies in the practices in being that have been shaping the author's knowing and being.
