ABSTRACT

The key is to forge educationally sound and logical links between planned intentions, course content, teaching and learning methods, and the assessment of student learning while taking full account of student characteristics. Informing students of the appropriate model of the curriculum could assist them in planning their work and to gain a sight of the ‘bigger picture’. Environment incorporates student support, provision of resources and establishing the learning community which involves achieving the right conditions for both challenging and supporting our students. The All Ireland Society for Higher Education student-centred, outcomes-based model for module design is interesting as, in many ways, it mirrors the sections of the Dennis model but starts from the student – student diversity and learning approaches and the context(s) in which they are studying. A Programme Specification is designed to be a concise document that describes the whole course of study that a student signs up for.
