ABSTRACT
Drawing from contemporary education issues and accounts, this chapter introduces, explores, and situates the phenomenon of suffering in school life and raises awareness of modern causes of suffering in school and its dichotomy with well-being. The chapter presents terminology and a working definition of suffering as it pertains to students and their school cultures and pronounces a moral call for ethical educators to respond to and aid in the alleviation of suffering students.
