ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book focuses on the technical expertise that leaders need to be able to communicate effective feedback, whether we’re giving feedback to teachers in a walkthrough, providing feedback in meetings as we collaborate on decisions, or giving feedback to our teacher leaders. It demonstrates the importance of giving candid feedback and shows the distinct differences between vague and ambiguous feedback compared to candid and specific feedback. A transformation will occur if we quit relying on outside measures and test scores to understand our practices and start talking about what we’re doing, and need to do, that will lead to the results we so dearly desire. The book is about the best practices that have transformed schools across America and how they don’t work without a culture of candid and compassionate feedback.
