ABSTRACT
Offering an alternative to authoritarian approaches to behaviour management, this chapter focusses on humanistic and relational approaches that have at their heart the holistic needs of children – nurture and trauma-informed practice. The chapter highlights the importance of a positive school ethos and climate and discusses collaborative approaches to supporting children and young people – integrated children's services, staged intervention and multi-agency and inter-professional working.
