ABSTRACT

In this chapter the relationships between parents, ECEC practitioners and teachers during the academic year prior to the children starting school are explored and presented. This is the phase of preparation on the model ‘The Relational Transition to School’. To demonstrate how the qualities of relationships between the groups change, the phase of preparation is divided into two. The first phase is during the autumn term and spring term and the second phase is during the summer term. The summer term is the term, which is prior to the children’s move. It is during this term that the preparations intensify. After the presentation of the data, which identifies the qualities of the relationships between the groups, there is a summary and a comparison of the qualities of the relationships in the cases of Castleton and Townmouth.
