      ABSTRACT

In the concluding chapter, we summarize the findings of the book and give an outlook on desiderata for future research. Our results support our two-step theoretical model. We depict that real political events influence citizens’ attitudes toward well-known actors which are transferred into feelings toward more distant actors. Hence, Muslims take information shortcuts but these heuristics are again informed by rational or utilitarian evaluations of actual political events. In other words, if Muslims are satisfied with politics, economy and life, they will trust domestic politicians as well as more distant actors. The chapter also highlights the relevance and gives specific clues for European and domestic policy-making that can be inferred from our findings.
