ABSTRACT
This chapter will briefly investigate the complexities inherent in defining global indigeneity prior to taking the discussion to the construction of indigeneity in contemporary Malaysia. In so doing, it will explore the use of current terminologies pertaining to Malaysian indigeneity. The chapter concludes by examining narratives on the Orang Asli in the formation of early Malay polities in Peninsular Malaysia.
