ABSTRACT

Chapter 11, the final chapter of the book, provides conclusions to the discussion in the book’s previous chapters, referring specifically to the Chapter 1 roadmap theories and the evidence showing the relative influence of these theories over criminal law and criminal justice. By using the roadmap theories in this way, the chapter identifies some key current trends in criminal law and criminal justice’s development. The chapter then goes on to consider how criminal law and criminal justice could be changed for the better in the future. The discussion in this section distinguishes between possible reforms which could take place within criminal law and criminal justice, and outside them in wider society.
