ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the tensions associated with the adoption of AI and Automation technologies more generally, before focusing on potential tensions for coaching. The digital age, generally referred to as the 4th Industrial Revolution, appears as with other industrial revolutions to be a key resource that is both disrupting, as well as enabling, the transformation of industries and individual organisations. The concept of deep learning as applied to the field of AI is different in some respects to the concept of deep learning as understood and applied in the field of education. Digital coaching thus acts as bridging tool: ‘analytics representation of explicit knowledge built from data and information collected from and the fuzzy ontology representation from partly explicit, linguistic knowledge and partly tacit knowledge collected through work with experienced engineers’.
