ABSTRACT

Family law encompasses marriage, the marital relationship, children, and divorce. The 2007 Census of Agriculture, conducted by the National Agricultural Statistics Service, an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, reported that almost 96 percent of the 2,204,792 farms in the United States are family-owned farms. For most farms, family events such as marriages, the birth of children, and divorces are important events in the life of the farm business and the farm family. Some of these events may strengthen the farm business whereas others may very well destroy the farm business. Physician orders setting the parameters for end-of-life care are discussed as is the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
