Personal property includes every kind of property that is not real property. The two primary classifications of personal property are tangible and intangible. Items of tangible personal property are called the chattels. Both types of personal property are important to modern agribusiness. Each article of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and the personal property covered by that chapter are briefly discussed. Regulation of publicly traded agricultural futures and options is discussed briefly as are intellectual property, such as patents, copyrights, trademarks, and certificates of protection for plant varieties and plant variety, and derivative interests in subsurface real property.
