ABSTRACT

So far in this book I’ve shown extracts of varying length from coaching, but in this chapter I want to present the unfolding sequence of resilience coaching over five sessions with dialogue excerpts from the beginning, middle and ending stages. In the dialogue sections, I will be explaining what I’m doing and why I’m doing it. These annotations will be in square brackets. Obviously these annotations are not meant to be definitive, just my approach to tackling the client’s difficulties which coaches may find helpful. I’ve removed any verbosity from the dialogue (and not just the client’s). As I pointed out in the introduction to this book, a client will sometimes seek coaching because an unpleasant situation she’s been avoiding is no longer avoidable and now wants to acquire the necessary skills and attitudes to deal with it.
