ABSTRACT

The sea cave environment is most suited to be set up before the students arrive. However it is very possible to involve the students in adding elements to the cave. This chapter provides information on equipment needed and instructions for creating the sea cave environment. It discusses the ways to make use of the sea cave. The chapter presents an example of how this environment has been used. In this example, students entered the hall to the sound of the sea and gulls to find a cave. There was a rope laid out to represent a shoreline, with sand, shells, pebbles, seaweed and flotsam scattered along it. Sitting in the entrance to the cave with her back to the shore was a woman in a threadbare jacket, torn-off calf-length trousers and bare feet.
