ABSTRACT

Chapter 9 focuses on those elements that make people feel integrated within a group. The central concepts are those of an inclusive community, trust, and collective identity. Trust is broken down into different elements. Empirical data from interdisciplinary teams is used to illustrate how the quality of managing diversity is important in order to create well-functioning heterogeneous teams. As the context for this research, the qualities of Scandinavian society are described as a relevant context for understanding this type of trust. Readers will understand how this outcome can be seen from a personal diversity perspective of Red, Blue and Green, and what interdisciplinary qualities are needed in order to build inclusiveness. The chapter ends by summarising the cultural aspects involved with a case study, illustrating the elements needed in order to build trust in the Middle East.
