ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses that the integrated model of Microcounseling Supervision offers a standardized approach to supervision offering to the supervisee strengths and areas for improvement. To assist those who favor eclecticism, integrated models of supervision were designed for those who work from multiple theoretical orientations. The beauty of Microcounseling Supervision is that it teaches the supervisee and supervisor a natural method for reviewing counseling tapes and offering feedback, regardless of theoretical orientation. A major component of Microcounseling Supervision is the Counseling Interview Rating Form. The Microcounseling Supervision Model has three major components: Reviewing Skills with Intention, Classifying Skills with Mastery and Processing Supervisory Needs. The cardinal rule of any integrative supervision is to customize supervision to meet the needs of the individual supervisee. The Counseling Interview Rating Form assists in developing a system for reciprocal supervision where supervisees, colleagues, and instructor can offer constructive feedback.
