ABSTRACT
This chapter deals with identifying Professional Code of Ethics Standards related to privacy, confidentiality, and technology. It also deals with identifying ethical choices when faced with conflicts of interest and multiple relationships. Watching popular TV and movie clips and then discussing the ethical issues presented stimulates learning. Clips from the TV show, Monk, and the movie, Prime, which pertain to a variety of ethical issues and dilemmas are shown. Participants are led through a discussion on ethical responses for each clip while referring to their applicable Professional Code of Ethics. Discussion questions focusing on client documentation; technology; termination; and multiple relationships, are also included in the chapter. The intended audience is students and mental health professionals, and the training is suitable for individuals, small, and large groups.
