ABSTRACT
Chapter 1 summarizes the structural features and content of the United States Constitution—including separation of the powers in the federal government; the enumerated powers of the federal government; the division of powers between the federal government and the states; the Bill of Rights; the Fourteenth Amendment due process and equal protection clauses. This chapter also provides an overview of our judicial system and how cases reach the Supreme Court.
