ABSTRACT

In Chapter 5, the theory of spiritual intelligence quotient is introduced. In the first subheading, the different theorists (Zohar and Marshal, Emmons, Noble, Vaughan, King and DeCicco, Amram and Wigglesworth) are outlined along with their understandings and research on spiritual intelligence (SQ). The different definitions of SQ are explained in Table 5.1.

In the second section, a comparison between each SQ theorist’s definitions and capacities is performed by describing factors, patterns that emerge into five main spiritual capacities that differ and overlap between the SQ theorists. These five spiritual capacities are: personal meaning production, consciousness/awareness, self-reflection/reflexivity, creativity and transpersonal orientation. These capacities are coded by symbol and shown in Table 5.2. To conclude, these capacities are explained in relation to the psycho-spiritual literature.
