ABSTRACT

In many of the advanced countries fighting against Nazism, the desire for social security became identified in the minds of the people with the better world they were fighting for. This trend towards comprehensive social security planning found expression in two international events. The numerous definitions of social security can be grouped under two broad headings: the specific and the philosophic. This rightly implies that though different countries have added other benefits to this list, it is universally accepted that it covers either all or some of the benefits of social security. Dr Marsh's report on Canadian social security gave three contingencies to be covered by social security. In the end social security becomes another grandiose term for social and economic policy. This is made quite clear by one of the exponents of the philosophic approach to social security. Social security is an ephemeral myth until such cancers are removed.
