Economic Co-Operation

The primary economic units in Nyakyusa society are the kinship groups—the elementary family, the cattle-owing lineage, and the group of cognates who co-operate in production and exchange many gifts, and among whom cattle circulate. ¹ However, fellow villagers also work together, exchange food, and have a common interest in certain property.
