ABSTRACT

The client can be helped to see what they have learned, including new skills that they can utilize in their day to day life. Therapists will be able to cite many examples of client work, which has miraculously speeded up when the client is emigrating, moving, ending term, or having to stop therapy for some other reason. One hopes that the end of therapy is seen as a step forward, as a moving on in a positive way. Some will be glad to regain the time that they have given up for therapy, and will be quite pleased to move on from looking at painful areas. The therapist, for a brief period, has been intensely involved in the client’s story. The quick succession of clients with the very intense and deep work of brief therapy is very demanding for the therapist.
