ABSTRACT

Jane was desirous of continuing to see the therapist and decided that though her depression and panic anxiety were the reason in the first place for coming, it now seemed that her need to be in control, her avoidance of change, her sensitivity to being seen as “unlovable and unworthy” and which she attributed to herself—a defect, a weakness, she said, was now becoming prominent in the sessions with her therapist. Projection was a way of trying to disown negative feelings. This seemed to work for a while and when they no longer seemed to do so, became the likely reasons for her panic anxiety and depression, which became the focus of therapy.
