ABSTRACT

In Chapter Nine, the analysis of sexual trauma in the case of W., an “outsider artist” was outlined. The description made reference to W.’s interest in psychoanalysis. W., like other incest survivors betrayed by his family, struggled to understand how his mother, father, and sister could have sexually assaulted him. As one incest survivor once said, “Your parents are God’s agents here on earth. Their job is to protect you, to love you, not to harm you” (Rachman, 1997a). W. turned to the psychoanalytic literature in an attempt to understand why his parent did “evil things” to him.
