ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a case study of an Asperger's patient named Anthony. Anthony was a hulking, physically imposing, tall, and muscular young man who still lived with his parents. Anthony had dropped out of political science studies at university, and spent his time working out at the gym and attending meetings of what he initially referred to as "people similar to me". He explained to the clinician that he is a "sub" who wants to find a woman who is a "dom" with whom he can have a satisfying and long-term relationship; but that he experiences despair about how likely it is he will succeed in this quest. There are certainly some quite inhibited aspects to his everyday functioning, but the general flavour he communicated was that he was always teetering on the edge of some kind of aggressive action, whether this was verbal in nature or approaching outright physical violence.
