ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the role of the Alignment Wheel, which is the third key component. The Alignment Wheel is embedded in the centre of the Ershad coaching framework. It can be employed at any phase of the conversational process. At appropriate moments during the Ershad coaching conversation, the learner should be given the opportunity to consider the Alignment Wheel. Through this process, the learner can evaluate his or her intent, behaviours, thoughts, and pathways. According to Islamic pedagogy, the relationship between a person and his or her Creator is that of servitude to God. The term "self", refers to the physical, psychological, and temperamental characteristics of a person. These include a person's opinions, beliefs, habits, talents, and social values. All of these inner characteristics impact on how a person interacts with others and the world.
