ABSTRACT
A patient suffering from impotence as the result of masked castration threats, and who had been severely intimidated as a child, dreams that he buys his English language-mistress a necktie, but that it really was a coiledup eel. The analysis showed that he wants to buy her a penis (fish-tie), as he has a horror of creatures without a penis (a castrate, a woman). To approach a woman without anxiety he has to imagine the vagina as a coiled-up penis.
