A patient dreamt I saw a woman with a fan in place of genitals; she walked on this fan; her legs were cut off. The patient’s powerful castration complex is repelled by the feminine lack of a penis; he has, therefore, to imagine the vulva as a fan-shaped split penis, but nevertheless still a penis. 2 He preferred to sacrifice the woman’s legs.
