ABSTRACT

There are a number of steps towards better health, both mental and physical, or what people might call "well-being". They are simple, but this does not mean that they are easy. If one's working day is spent sitting at a computer, their exercise will need to be more varied and regular than if they have been stacking shelves all day, in which case they will need something gentle and flexible. People need to mix the best quality of food in an appetizing and varied way, with five portions of fruit and vegetables and a mixture of grains and nuts. The amount of rest and the amount of sleep one need is very personal. Since modern life has speeded up considerably, they will probably need more rest and sleep than they are currently getting. At work, there are now quite strict health and safety codes about what constitutes a minimum standard for a healthy working environment.
