ABSTRACT

There are a number of sources of information, mainly self-help books and websites on the Internet, most of which give reasonable value and through which one can discover more information about mental health for themselves. Most of the websites have a search function, so specific medical conditions are quite easily found. People can also do a general search of the whole web, but this is likely to bring up a large number of very different sites. Some of these will be commercial sites, trying to sell them something. Drugs or treatments purchased over the Internet are not guaranteed to be right for people: they can incur customs duty, and may also be of dubious quality or efficacy. Many of self-help readings can be found in the "popular psychology" sections of large bookshops, libraries, via specialist book websites such as Amazon, or the individual publishers' websites.
