ABSTRACT

It is no surprise that porn images and videos raise the most vivid interest among men, at any age, as they primarily deal with individual, collective, and archetypal male shadows, and directly address male desires, fantasies, and imagery. If women were thinking more of tender porn, while men had in mind the most brutal genres, this would offer quite a different perspective on those bare statistical numbers. Of course, many women can be excited by more dashing contents and harder scenes as well, possibly resonating with fantasies that they have, albeit they may not want to experience them in reality, and the same can be said about men. A significant change from the early days of porn, when male performers’ faces were mandatorily filmed right before or while reaching orgasm, to the contemporary one, lies exactly in the progressive eclipsing of men’s faces.
