ABSTRACT
The omnipotence of schizophrenic patients, as in certain obsessional neurotics with pronounced narcissistic traits, is expressed more in terms of a struggle for control of the time and space of the analysis rather than as outright hostility towards the rules of analysis or the transference situation. Because of their feeling of insecurity, they want to be the stage managers of the analytic situation. It is a manifestation of severe agoraphobia, the dramatic inability to deal with open spaces, hence the need always to inhabit someone else's body. In the transference psychiatrist meet this kind of phenomenon when someone "gets stuck into us". For there to be communication and dialogue there has to be separation; this is the problem encountered by those who do not manage to climb out of the bodywork, to come out of their space.
