ABSTRACT

Solomon, the wisest of kings, confirms that although woman must have conflict between her rôle as individual and her rôle as mother, a healthy society enables the woman to resolve the struggle and attain happiness and self-esteem in a symbiotic relationship with her wondrous creation. The judgment of Solomon will, regrettably, provide Balls with no precedent enabling him to plead a case for the father because no fathers make an appearance in King Solomon’s court; the disputed children, born in a brothel, were the children of prostitutes, the true fathers unknown to each of the mothers and fated irrevocably to be unknown to the surviving child. In one of the most bloody chapters in the Bible we see Solomon fulfilling the paternal command; all who would subvert his authority, including his elder brother and meddlesome priests, were slain: "And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon."
