ABSTRACT

A young woman, whom the author calls Vera, was afflicted with an oral drive destiny that took the form of bulimic episodes: an auto-erotic short-circuiting, no doubt aimed at staving off some unbearable subjective suffering. Vera was referred to the author by her general practitioner for an analysis. Unable to access a reversibility in her partner that would allow for a more subjectively enriching drive trajectory, she seemed to have maintained herself in a form of restrictive submission in relation to her first drive interactions. Vera had learned to exercise her oral drive activity in a defensive manner, avoiding any significant response from her partners in love and lowering her goal for satisfaction to the de-metaphorized object of alimentary need. Vera begins the second year of her treatment, and seems to be making decisive progress towards a certain liberation, enabling her to achieve more personal satisfaction.
