ABSTRACT

People who are full of joy are attractive to their fellow human beings, who would like to be infected by their cheerfulness or to share in this vital energy. It is an affect that makes thought lighter. It has its roots in the happy experiences of early childhood, in the harmony between complementary series, and in the free flow of the life-drive. The happiness of the manic individual comes from the masochistic pleasure they get when seeing themselves destroyed, or when observing sadistically the destruction of the hated object. This kind of joy is linked to the feeling of destructive envy. Both psychopathy and perversion are usually related to wickedness. To psychopaths, what matters is to reach their goal of using the object. When perversion is driven by wickedness, the malevolent behaviour of the pervert very often annihilates the other's joy forever. By 'joyful mother' mean the mother who transmits positive feelings and the life-drive to her children.
