ABSTRACT

Parker (1994, p. 2) states that a qualitative research is “the interpretative study of a specified issue or problem in which the researcher is central to the sense that is made”. Therefore, in order to make better sense of my findings it is necessary to think about my personal position in this research. Baxter, Hughes, and Tight (2001) stress the importance of making one’s role and position in the research clear so as to assert ownership and to enable recognition of possible limitations, influences, and biases of one’s own perspective.
