ABSTRACT

The short answer is “No”. You are free to work whenever you want to. However, part of running a successful business involves delivering products or services that people want, at a price they can afford, in the quantity they need, at a time when they want it. One of the local counselling charities I know operates on weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. I am aware of their reasons for this. Limited and precarious funding means that they cannot employ enough staff to deliver the service they want to. Operating on a Saturday would mean closing one day during the week. And they don’t have the extra staff to provide the cover to make the centre safe in the evenings. As a result of these restrictions, the client base they are able to serve is inevitably restricted.
