ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a pressure in sport as an experience that is normally expressed by a sensation of weight or tension that can manifest itself at the psychic or motor level. Feeling pressure is a common experience in many situations of our lives, but its effect is especially noticeable in sport practices, particularly during high competition. Motor dystonia can be the only visible manifestation that a player is undergoing a state of pressure. The sensation of pressure will also be proportional to the proximity of the ideal that is internally established. It's a difficult art for a trainer to ensure that his players feel motivated and protected and receive an appropriate amount of pressure. The fact that a team may include many experienced players who will have played at this level before will serve as a pressure buffer for the younger and less experienced players. There are different ways of confronting pressure and of condensing experience.
